Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme

If your child is already having lessons in school, they may be able to purchase an instrument at a reduced cost using the Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme. Please see more information, and our request form, below.

Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme

The Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme (AIPS) is a government approved scheme that enables pupils receiving musical tuition to purchase a new instrument through their school at a reduced cost. Under the AIPS, the school is able to purchase the instrument minus VAT (20%), and pass this reduction in price onto the pupil.

In order to qualify for the scheme in our schools, the following criteria must apply:

•The instrument or item must be new, and must be sold to the school and then supplied onto the pupil or their parent/carer
•The instrument must be used as part of musical tuition in school or with the local Music Hub (which includes an ensemble in school, or with the local Music Hub). This, unfortunately, means we unable to accept AIPS forms for heavy instruments including Drum Kits and Keyboards.
•The instrument must be appropriate to the pupil’s needs
•The price charged to the pupil for the purchase of the instrument must be at or below cost.

If you’re interested in purchasing a musical instrument via this scheme please complete the following form.

Once your form is received, the request will be referred to the trust's Director of Music for confirmation of eligibility. We will contact you via email to confirm once this has been completed.

Please ensure that the entire form is submitted before leaving this site, or we may not receive your form. You will see a confirmation message at the end, once the form has been successfully submitted.
