Carol Services Spread Joy this Christmas
Back
Returning for the 11th year, a Junior Carol Service and Senior Carol Service were once again held at the Great Yarmouth Minster on the 2nd and 3rd December. Pupils and staff gathered in the church to perform two evenings of breathtaking carols for a packed audience of parents.
The services are modelled on the famous “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” held in King’s College, Cambridge on Christmas Eve. These traditional Carol Services are fitting for the location, and set the occasion apart from the many and varied Christmas concerts that are offered throughout the trust at this time of year. Giving our pupils the opportunity to experience the richness and wealth of these traditional songs.
Across both services there were over 700 pupils and members of staff performing from our primary, secondary and sixth forms. There has been much preparation and rehearsal to be able to offer these services, providing the opportunity to as many children as possible to perform.
John Stephens, Director of Music at Inspiration Trust said:
“Once again, our young people have admirably risen to the challenge of preparing and presenting these traditional carol services. Their talent shines through, of course, but so does their dedication. I am very proud of all who’ve contributed, both pupils and staff. Although I lead this event, it’s a huge team effort and I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to colleagues without whom the events would not be possible at this scale. I wish all every blessing this Christmas!”
From everyone at Inspiration Trust we are so proud of the commitment shown by everyone involved in these services. The dedication of our pupils to put in extra effort at home and at school to prepare for these services cannot be understated. A special thank you goes to the staff at Great Yarmouth Minster for all their support and for making us feel welcome in their church for two wonderful evenings.
