With a focus on academic excellence, expert teachers from Ofsted Outstanding Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form have launched a dedicated programme to support secondary school students from all across Norfolk to explore and deepen their love of mathematics.

In September 2022, Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form launched an online programme for Year 10 and 11 Norfolk students that would like to study GCSE Further Maths, deepening their understanding beyond their normal maths lessons, and to date, have had a whopping 350 students sign-up for the course!

The initiative, which is open to GCSE students from all schools and Trusts across Norfolk aligns with Sir Isaac Newton’s core values of ‘providing outstanding support’ and ‘the best learning opportunities’ and all involved at the sixth form and across Inspiration Trust are so proud to be able to offer this beyond those that attend the school.

Chris Jennings, Principal - Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form said:

“We are really excited to be developing our outreach programme. Schools have been really supportive of the courses and events we are offering and we hope they are helping increase students’ love and enjoyment of these subjects”.

And, the support doesn’t stop there. Alongside this fantastic online programme to enhance a love for further maths, Sir Isaac Newton is running a series of enrichment activities and events to coincide with Maths Week (14th-18th November).

These events and activities include the offer of Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form’s expert teachers visiting schools across Norfolk to deliver tailored maths lessons and will cover everything from Patterns and Fractals to ‘The Maths behind Encrypted Messaging’ which covers how prime numbers are used to allow money and messages to be sent securely over the internet.

The Norwich-based sixth form will also be hosting two Maths in Space events for Key Stage 2 pupils, inviting both schools and parents into the Inspiration Trust to take part in a wide range of space-themed activities that explore the fun to be had with maths.

Finally, the sixth form is hosting a Norfolk-wide Origami Competition, whereby schools from across the county are invited to take part in creating stars, planets and solar systems using origami. All resources, materials and instructional videos are provided by Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form with prizes on offer for the best three displays across primary and secondary.
