Teaching and learning
Our sixth form is a caring community in which every individual is important.
Whether you have been a student at the Hewett Academy already or have joined us specifically for the sixth form, we will continue to support and guide your transition to a new way of learning and on to future success.
Your form tutor acts as your personal adviser enabling you to plan your future effectively, while there is a large team of people dedicated to your support and guidance about academic, personal, health, or financial issues.
In addition, the tutorial programme features outside speakers, from universities and employers to apprenticeship providers and other agencies.
We have invested in new and enhanced facilities to support our students' learning, including extra study rooms which are regularly staffed and well-resourced. We have an excellent library and extensive access to computers for our sixth form students.
Our students tell us that their well-qualified teachers offer valuable and regular feedback and support for their learning. By receiving ongoing feedback on your progress you are able to decide how best to move to the next level of success.
We also offer an extensive and unrivalled post-examination results guidance service in the summer holidays.
With the atmosphere of a college and the back-up of expert school support systems the Hewett Academy Sixth Form offers each student an ideal environment in which to develop further confidence and independent learning skills, which increase the chances of success at university or in a well-paid and interesting career.
