Course outline

A Level mathematics provides students with a thorough grounding in mathematical skills and techniques. It is an interesting and challenging course that develops logic and reasoning skills.

Course content

Up to two thirds of the course will be pure material, and the other third applied. Topics will include: calculus; functions, series, and limits; algebraic and graphing skills; numerical methods; exponentials and logarithms; coordinate geometry;  probability and statistics; and mechanics.

Mathematics A Level is very highly regarded by higher education establishments, and can lead to careers in research, mathematical modelling, accounting, actuarial science, insurance, banking, architecture, engineering (chemical, aeronautical, mechanical and electrical), physics, chemistry, astrophysics, law, economics, business consultancy, computer science, meteorology, medicine, computer game design, and the communication and transportation sector.
