Home-school agreement

The Hewett Academy will:

  • Provide a safe healthy environment 
  • Praise and reward student achievement 
  • Work with parents/carers to help ensure every student achieves their full potential
  • Insist on the highest standards of behaviour
  • Make lessons engaging and challenging 
  • Report regularly to parents/carers about their child's progress
  • Keep parents and students informed about academy activities
  • Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with employers and the community
  • Welcome parents/carers as partners in the work of the academy and treat parents and students with respect
  • Provide a balanced and relevant curriculum
  • Regularly seek the views of parents and students on their experiences in the academy and feedback on how we have acted on their recommendations

Students will:

  • Follow the academy's behaviour systems
  • Aim for 100% attendance and always be on time
  • Adhere to the academy uniform policy and be aware that they represent the academy at all times when in uniform; this includes travelling to and from the academy
  • Bring all equipment needed for each day including their planner and knowledge organiser
  • Not use mobile phones, iPods or any other electrical devices on the academy site
  • Do all class work and homework to the highest possible standard and hand homework in on time
  • Be proud of their achievements and work with their teachers to set targets for improvement
  • Be polite, kind, and helpful to everyone
  • Keep the academy free from litter and respect the academy property
  • Take pride in being a valued member of the academy community
  • Agree to strictly adhere to our acceptable usage policy for ICT

Parents/carers will:

  • Ensure that my daughter/son aims to attend the academy 100% of the time
  • Ensure that my daughter/son arrives on time and in correct uniform
  • Make the academy aware of any concerns or problems that might affect my daughter/son
  • Encourage my daughter/son to behave well and respect the rights of others to learn without disruption
  • Support the behaviour systems if my daughter/son's behaviour does not meet expectations
  • Ensure my daughter/son always completes their homework on time and that I sign the planner weekly
  • Attend all parents' evenings, raising achievement evenings, and information evenings about my daughter/son's progress
  • Work in partnership with the academy to promote the best interests of my daughter/son's education
  • Agree to follow the established absence reporting system
