Getting started

On your first day at Jane Austen College you will take part in our induction programme which will fully prepare you for study and life at our unique sixth form.

Jane Austen College aims to be as paper free as possible. Although not compulsory, an internet-enabled device such as a laptop or iPad would support your learning. Chromebooks are available to borrow from the school reception. You must ensure you return this to reception afterwards, failure to do so will result in a ban from accessing these resources. You are also able to bring in your own device if you choose.

You will be provided with a folder for organising notes, course information and key assessments. You will need to bring this with you every day, and this should contain your most up-to-date notes and assessments for each subject. You will need to transfer notes to separate subject folders regularly, to ensure your folder does not get too full.

Every day you will need to bring note paper/pad and pens/pencils with you. You may also find a ruler and highlighter pens useful. If you are studying a subject with a mathematical component (including geography and psychology) you will also require a calculator.

Online resources

Many of the documents required for your studies are posted online for you to use at home. Your teachers will share the relevant websites with you so you can access these.
