The Inspiration Trust is looking for a Reading Champion to inspire and foster a love of reading in our students, and improve reading skills in students across all phases and all abilities. This successful candidate will be based at both Great Yarmouth Primary Academy and Cobholm Primary Academy.

As well as being a voracious reader with a love of literature, and knowledge of children’s fiction, this Reading Champion will enjoy working with young people and will be passionate about promoting reading for pleasure to students. The role will be based in our School ‘Study’, but the Reading Champion will make themselves known all around the school, generating creative ideas for events, promotions and displays. They will explore new ideas and new approaches to inspire students to fall in love with a book and improve their literacy.

Our Reading Champion will run reading groups and interventions (Read, Write inc. Phonics) for those who need to improve their reading skills, but will also find ways to challenge and motivate those who are already readers. In this post you will work with individuals and small groups to provide high quality learning support to students as well as supporting teachers, teaching assistants and families to improve reading standards across the school.

For one day a week the candidate appointed will be working with Cobholm Primary Academy to further support their established reading curriculum.

We are part of the Inspiration Trust, one of the country’s top schools groups, and strongly believe in the importance of giving the widest educational opportunities to all young people, regardless of their background. We have strong teaching networks across the Trust, with opportunities to work with a diverse range of schools and partners. Our innovative and nationally leading work on primary curriculum development makes this an exciting time to join our trust.

We are committed to offering excellent professional opportunities and learning opportunities for our staff, through careful support and personalised CPD. We offer a structured and specific induction programme that has been praised by staff for its support and expertise.
