First look at Charter campus revamp

Parents and the public are being asked for their views on a series of improvements at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy.
The proposals include a new fully-accessible science block, new multi-use games area, refurbishment of several existing classrooms and improved catering and library facilities, all within the school's existing Salisbury Road site.
They would also free up space for the academy's planned new sixth form, scheduled to open in September 2021.
The improvements come on top of a huge leap in this summer's GCSE exam results, with almost double the number of pupils achieving GCSE English and Maths at Grade 5 or above compared to the previous school.
The changes are being put forward by the Inspiration Trust and the Department for Education, with the public being asked for their views ahead of the submission of a formal planning application later this year.
If approved, construction could start in the summer, with a phased programme of building and refurbishment expected to be completed by September 2020.
- Details of the proposals can be viewed at a consultation event at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy on Salisbury Road, Great Yarmouth, between 4pm and 7pm on Monday, October 29, 2018.
