Bard's birthday marked with special performance

Published on 19/04/18

Shakespeare's birthday will be marked next week with a special production featuring scenes from some of his most popular plays.

Sixth form students from Thetford Academy have teamed up with professional actors from Well Made Theatre Company for a gala show on Monday, April 23.

Called With The Best of Will, the performance will include scenes from Antony and Cleopatra, Macbeth, Richard III, Twelfth Night, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The show will debut at Thetford Academy on Monday, with further performances at Garboldisham Village Hall on Friday, April 27, and Thetford Guildhall on Saturday, April 28.

Thetford Academy head of performing arts Helen Thomas Jones said: "Rehearsals have been going really well and this will be a great show both for fans of the Bard and those looking for an introduction.

"Working with Well Made Theatre has given our sixth formers a unique opportunity to train, rehearse and perform alongside some well-established, experienced, professional actors.

"The additional dates also give an insight into what it’s like to be a touring actor, adjusting the performance for  different venues."

Tickets for all performances are just £8 (£5 concessions) and are available from the Leaping Hare box office online at or in person at King Street, Thetford.
