Sixth form ‘pioneer class’ reunite

Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form has held its first ever reunion for former students, three years after they were the first to complete their A Levels there.
The maths and science specialist sixth form, which opened in 2013 on the site of the old fire station on Bethel Street, hosted the reunion on Thursday, January 4.
Over 50 former students, now studying at universities across the UK, chatted with classmates and teachers over drinks and nibbles in an event which principal Chris Jennings branded “a great evening”.
They also had the chance to meet potential employers from the region’s science and technology industries.
Mr Jennings, who has worked at the school since it opened, said: “It was brilliant to see how well our first ever cohort are doing, as they enter the final few months of their university degrees, and find out about their exciting career plans.
“We look forward to hosting regular reunion events to help our fantastic students stay in touch.”
Students can use the school’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SirIsaacNewtonSixthForm to find out about future events.
