Jane Austen students got 'up and atom' for a visit to a major nuclear power plant.
The Year 10 students saw nuclear fission in action during a visit to Sizewell B on Tuesday, June 5.
The Suffolk nuclear power station is the UK's only pressurised water reactor, cooled by 12,000 gallons of seawater every second.
Students toured the site's facilities which included the fish re-circulation wheel, which safely returns fish and other sea creatures to the sea, and a turbine generator which was spinning at twice the speed of sound.
Students can find out more about career opportunities at the plant on the EDF Energy careers website.
