'Fake' emergency at East Point this weekend

Published on 23/03/17

The East Point Academy campus will be used for a training exercise this weekend.

St John Ambulance will be running a casualty simulation exercise to train its volunteers and staff from 3.30pm-10pm on Saturday, March 25.

The incident involving a number of casualties and emergency responders will see ambulances come and go from the site and a large amount of activity in the area.

But members of the public are being warned not to be alarmed by the exercise.

St John Ambulance spokesman Ian Groves said the event is part of the charity's continuing professional development.

He added it would involve “a number of volunteers at the Lowestoft unit and is likely to appear to onlookers to be a real incident”.

There will be signs at the entrance to the academy on the day and a member of the team will also be at the entrance to explain what is happening to members of the public.
