Success on the menu for Cromer canteen team

The team behind Cromer Academy’s popular student canteen have picked up some new glassware – a trophy for Team Of The Year from catering company Vertas.

Catering staff members Sarah Muirhead, Anita Bullen, Marion Haywood, and Wendy Jolly scooped the prize at the Vertas Making The Difference Staff Awards, celebrating catering excellence in organisations across the East of England.

They picked up their gong in a glitzy evening ceremony at Kesgrave Hall in Suffolk on Friday, March 2.

Principal Dr Geoff Baker, who nominated the team, explained that the award reflected their hard work and commitment in transforming student dining at the academy.

He said: “The food is cooked to perfection, includes lots of variety, and is well presented. Having lunch at Cromer Academy has become a dining experience as opposed to simply a ‘school lunch’.

“All members of the catering team take real pride in being part of Cromer Academy and they are an integral part of the school.”

The award comes as the cherry on the cake after a major investment by the Inspiration Trust in the school's brand-new canteen, which opened in September 2017 and offers a bright, welcoming space for diners.
