Inspiration Trust supports national helpline for parents during school closures

Published on 24/04/20

Inspiration Trust is supporting StarLine, a new national helpline providing personalised home learning advice to parents and carers during school closures. The telephone helpline will offer families advice and support from a team of qualified teachers, education and parenting experts.

StarLine’s team of education and parenting experts will share tips, techniques, subject support and resources to help young people continue their learning while schools are closed, and to support families.

Dame Rachel de Souza, CEO of Inspiration Trust, said:  "I'm pleased that we have been able to offer support to StarLine and join the national effort to relieve some of the pressure families are experiencing during school closures.

"Our teams have been working hard to support our own family of schools, but during this difficult time we all know it's important to reach out to the wider community too. I've been blown away by the number of our teachers volunteering to help families nationally - from the StarLine helpline to Oak National Academy - it makes me incredibly proud to be part of the Inspiration Trust team."

Mufti Hamid Patel CBE, Chief Executive of Star Academies, said: “Together with our partners, we want to use our educational expertise to support parents and carers who are grappling with the challenge of trying to maintain their children’s learning. We’re proud to support this sector‐led initiative to give parents a friendly and caring specialist to turn to when they need it most.”

Matt Hood, Principal at Oak National Academy, said: “This is another fantastic example of
the education sector working together to ensure that every pupil gets the best possible
education at home. Directly supporting parents is an essential part of this work. I know
StarLine will make a huge difference to families across the country.”

Inspiration Trust is one of a group of partners, including Star Academies, Mumsnet, Oak National Academy, the Confederation of School Trusts, Triple P UK and a number of other academy trusts.
