Hewett Academy students explain how they feel after receiving GCSE results this year.
After students achieved fantastic GCSE results, we wanted to find out how they were feeling and what they felt had helped them to achieve this great outcome.
Sophie Smart was very excited and shocked with her excellent achievement. She said; ''I am really shocked but happy with my results - two 9s, wow! I cannot believe it, a massive thank you for all the support from the staff, I couldn’t have done it without them, especially Mrs George-Samuels and Miss Lunn.''
Alfie McEvoy, who achieved 8 strong passes including two grade 7s said; ''I’m incredibly proud of my results and what I have achieved. I owe this in part to The Hewett Academy and it’s amazing staff pushing me to do my best, which I did.''
One of our top achieving students, Sophie Plowman, gaining seven grade 9s could not collect her results herself on the day but she is hoping to study medicine in the future and we think she will be very pleased with these incredible results, taking her a step closer to her dream career.
Following some incredible results this year, a very proud principal, Ms Louise Jackson said;
"The Hewett Academy's core values are 'Respect, Aspiration, Dedication.' I am extremely proud to say that the results this summer are a testament to these values being put into action by our year 11 students, as we have seen an increase in the number of strong passes achieved in both English and Maths. Developing knowledge and skills in literacy and numeracy are crucial in supporting young people in their future learning and employment, and these grades reflect the students' hard work and the support of their parents and carers.
We are delighted to have seen a significant improvement in the proportion of students making good progress across all subjects, which reflects the absolute dedication of our staff in helping our students be the best they can be. Of special mention is our increase of over 20% in the number of grade 5s and above achieved in English, a significant increase in outcomes in V Cert PE with a 98% pass rate and 63% of students achieving a merit or distinction, and 64% of students achieving a grade 5 or over in Psychology.
Congratulations to every Hewett student and good luck for the future!"
