An Easter message from the Principal of The Hewett Academy
Published on 03/04/20
Dear parents, carers and students,
As we move towards the end of the spring term, I wanted to send a message to you all.
It has been an unusual end to the term and an unprecedented time for society as a whole. Many of the things we were looking forward to as a school have unfortunately not been able to go ahead, and of course, we are all thinking of our year 11 students and the fact that their exams will not take place as planned. However, we have also seen the best of what our school community can come together to achieve too. For example, just before we closed, we had a fantastic turnout of families and staff to support Dr Taylor's tree planting event for our eco-garden, and in recent weeks our staff and our wonderful PTA 'Friends of Hewett' have achieved phenomenal success by supporting families with food packages and carrying out wellbeing visits. Our school values are 'respect, aspiration and dedication' and there are many examples of how we have all embodied these through the recent period.
I am incredibly proud of the students and staff at Hewett Academy. The hard work of the staff to produce online learning and resource packs has been amazing and the resilience of our students has been a credit to them. I would like to thank our parents and carers for their support as we have all had to adapt to new ways of learning and communicating.
We don’t know how long our current situation will continue, but in the meantime, we are here to support you if you need us.
Have a restful Easter with your families and take care.
Miss L Jackson
