A generous £70k donation has been made to the Inspiration Trust family of schools - which we are a part of - to help us to support our communities during the coronavirus crisis. Each of the 14 schools within the trust has received a donation of £5k.
The school is donating:
- £1,000 to Imagine Norfolk Together, an organisation that supports a wide range of projects including support for the homeless, supporting mental health and eliminating food poverty.
- £2,000 to Refreshingly Different, a Great Yarmouth food bank.
- £1,000 to Better Together, an organisation that supports people in social isolation and combating loneliness.
- £1,000 to Norfolk and Waveney Mind, who have previously supported families at the school.
Iain Mackintosh, Executive Principal of Great Yarmouth Charter Academy, said: "We would like this donation to help as many people as possible - especially those that are most vulnerable during the coronavirus crisis. That's why we've chosen a mix of charities that work tirelessly to ensure families are fed, those in social isolation are cared for, people experiencing mental health issues are supported and the homeless are sheltered.
“We hope this money will make a difference to the people of Great Yarmouth."
A spokesperson from Refreshingly Different said: “To be given funding that is out of the blue was really moving. We have had a massive increase in people in need over the last few weeks and our hope was to be able to supply chilled food in the future, so this donation is perfect timing.
