Shot in the arm for healthcare careers

Students from East Point Academy explored careers in nursing and healthcare as they visited one of the region’s leading hospitals.
The Year 10 health and social care students enjoyed a taster day at the James Paget University Hospital Health Academy in Gorleston.
They tried out hand-on activities like testing their own blood pressure, applying bandages, and measuring glucose levels.
The hospital’s Health Academy was set up in 2018 to give students at local schools a taste of working in a busy hospital and an insight into the wide variety of healthcare careers available in the region.
East Point health and social care teacher Paige Henning said: “Students had an insightful morning gaining knowledge and understanding of the careers open to them in health and social care.”
