Advice for parents about Coronavirus

Published on 16/03/20

We are sharing the most up to date information and guidance about Coronavirus for our families.

We understand this is a worrying time. So we have put together a list of all the helpful information available.

  • The NHS website has helpful information about symptoms and the process to follow if you have them
  • There is stay at home guidance for anyone who has, or might have, Coronavirus
  • The Gov.uk website has wider information about travelling, general advice etc.

We are following all of the advice available and remain open. We are also preparing in case the decision is made to close schools.

Please use the normal process to report a student absence.

We are sending our families daily updates via email. We will also be updating our website and posting on social media.

If we don't have your email address, and you would like to receive updates, please email our school office. Please do not call the school office to give us your email address. There may be a delay in adding emails to our lists, but we will try and complete this as soon as possible.

Stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms

Stay at home if you have either:

  • a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
  • a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.

Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you're staying at home.

How long to stay at home

  • if you have symptoms, stay at home for 7 days
  • if you live with other people, they should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms
  • If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.
  • If you have to stay at home together, try to keep away from each other as much as possible.
