Keeping Children Safe

At Wayland Academy we actively educate our students about current affairs and responsibilities they have within society and our wider community . This includes the responsibility for each child to stay safe at home, school, online and also to maintain a healthy mind.

Within our pastoral programme, we deliver Welfare Day presentations to all of our students. Each week within a half term has a different theme and thus a different presentation to learn from. These welfare day presentations are delivered by our tutors. Topics such as Safeguarding, Radicalisation/Extremism, Anti-Bullying Maintaining a Health mind, Behaviour, Prejudice/Discrimination. The presentations have a mixture of discussions, educational videos, article links and youtube clips to illustrate the importance of understanding how to keep safe. The Welfare Day power points are also available on our website for parents to see exactly how we promote keeping children safe at the Academy.
