As parents and pupils will know, Richard Dolding will be leaving East Point Academy at the end of this academic year.

Richard has had a significant impact at the school, and recently led the school through an Ofsted inspection, ensuring EPA retained its ‘good’ status. Richard will be missed, and we wish him all the best in his new role at Ormiston Academies Trust.

However, we are pleased to announce that Lucy Austin has been appointed as the new Principal of the school.

Ms Austin has been a senior leader at the school since 2018, taking on the Head of School role in 2021. She has worked hard to raise standards and ensure the young people at Hewett Academy have received the best possible education.

Ms Austin said: “I am very excited to be the new Principal of East Point Academy. I’ve worked with the East Point Academy team in the past and know what a dedicated and hard working group of staff and pupils they are. I’m looking forward to leading the school in its next chapter - to be an outstanding school for Lowestoft and its young people.”

Antony Little, the current Executive Principal, will remain at Hewett Academy and take on the permanent substantive Principal role when Ms Austin leaves.

Mr Little said: "I wanted to thank Ms Austin for her incredible work at Hewett over a number of years, firstly as Vice Principal and then as Head of School.  She has been a champion for the school, and our pupils have had a better education because of the work she has done.  Ms Austin will be much missed by us all, and our loss is very much East Point Academy's gain. I am now looking forward to working with the staff, students and families at Hewett to continue our strong record of improvement.  Hewett is a very special community school and I am proud to be its Principal."

We are confident that Ms Austin, supported by the Trust, and the strong senior team and excellent teachers, will continue to ensure the best possible education for EPA pupils. This is also an exciting time for Hewett Academy and we look forward to seeing Hewett move forward into its next chapter.
