Inspiration Teaching School Alliance
Hethersett Academy, just outside Norwich, is a National Teaching School and at the heart of our Inspiration Teaching School Alliance.
The academy is at the forefront of our continuing professional development, offering our staff and those from other local schools the chance to enhance their teaching skills.
Rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted, Hethersett Academy students achieve some of the best GCSE results in East Anglia while maintaining a vibrant sporting and cultural life.
The Inspiration Teaching School Alliance includes regional partner schools including Bedford Free School, Cottenham Primary School, and Cottenham Village College, as well as the academies within the Inspiration Trust across Norfolk and north Suffolk.
The alliance is overseen by the Inspiration Trust's director of education, Christine Counsell - a world-recognised expert in curriculum and teacher training.
Hethersett Academy principal and National Leader of Education Gareth Stevens is also a key figure in the alliance, together with the Trust's roster of subject specialist leaders, including Michael Fordham, Richard Kueh, Steve Mastin, and Summer Turner.
Inspiration Trust chief executive Dame Rachel de Souza provides advice and guidance, together with the alliance's partner organisations.
What we do
School to school support
We have a diverse and experienced team of Specialist Leaders in Education, National Leaders in Education and a nationally-recognised team of subject specialist leaders.
We specialise in whole school leadership across all phases from primary to post-16. We have expertise in Pupil Premium, behaviour, safety and wellbeing, safeguarding, curriculum, assessment, data & tracking, timetabling, and financial efficiencies.
We are currently supporting several Norfolk schools, including Sewell Park Academy and Sprowston Community High School, to improve outcomes and attendance of disadvantaged students with the support of the the Strategic School Improvement Fund.
Continuing professional development
Our CPD programme is extensive and varied, with a special emphasis on curriculum, the role of knowledge in curriculum, leadership of curriculum and the use of research to inform memorable and effective teaching.
We offer a wide range of courses, mostly in twilight hours to minimise disruption to the school day.
Initial teacher training
Inspiration Teaching Training is an exciting new school-centred initial teacher training programme, based in Norwich but with partner schools acros East Anglia. We are open for applications and begin our first courses in September 2018.
Our course range includes both primary and secondary teacher training with a strong focus on training teachers to be informed, excited and passionate about their subjects. In primary we offer courses both for general primary teaching and specialism in primary mathematics.
