Sport is an important part of life at Hethersett Academy, and we are blessed with high quality indoor and outdoor facilities.
Our sports hall is the size of four badminton courts, and has a full-size basketball court, three practice basketball courts, a full-size netball court, and three practice netball areas. There are two indoor cricket nets. Our integrated sound system is used to support fitness training in its many forms, and dance.
We have seven outdoor hard courts for tennis which also double for netball and basketball, and extensive playing fields.
Activities include traditional school sports such as football, rugby, swimming, netball, and fitness, but also more unusual pursuits like archery, horse riding, and Zumba.
These sessions are run by staff from the academy and coaches from the University of East Anglia and other local sporting experts.
Some sessions are held at the University of East Anglia Sportspark whilst some take place on the academy site.
We regularly compete against other local schools, including ongoing tournmanents across the Inspiration Trust.
Through our sports leaders programme we encourage our students to develop coaching skills, confidence, and personal responsibility, with students running sports sessions for local primary school groups.
