Sixth form life

Our city centre location means that life at Jane Austen College is vibrant and exciting. We have the best facilities to support sixth form study. Our sixth form library and study hub provide great environments for learning, and our breakout areas are lively social spaces.

Our teachers are highly skilled specialists. If you are opting for English, humanities, languages, and arts subjects then your lessons will be at Jane Austen College, however you can also complement these subjects with science and maths courses which will be delivered at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form. This gives you a unique, flexible opportunity and with both sixth forms benefitting from a city centre location, it is easy to move between the two buildings.

We will challenge you and expect you to work hard and make no apologies for that. But we will also support you, providing personalised advice and guidance about careers and your continuing education and ensuring you have regular contact with your sixth form tutor. Our 1:1 academic mentoring programme will also support you in achieving your personal goals.

Many students find the gap between sixth form study and university a large one and feel unprepared for the transition. We will support you in developing those all-important independent study skills that will make that transition smoother.
