Arts and culture

We are intensely proud of the creative spirit of Hewett Academy students.

Expressed through creative writing, the visual arts, drama, music, and much more besides, we encourage our students to express themselves and see the world through new perspectives.

For performances we are blessed with the fantastic facilities at the Walter Roy Theatre, giving us the chance to put on our own highly professional productions, as well as playing host to outside shows.

We combined English, art, and ICT to deliver 'creative, digital, multimedia' approaches to teaching and learning, and our enrichment activites include bands, music groups, dance groups, and drama.

Art is a hive of activity, with students spending a great deal of time involved in activities such as photography and life drawing.

Each year art, music, dance, and drama combine to produce a fabulous production in the Walter Roy Theatre. In the last few years, we have put on Les Miserables, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, West Side Story, Grimm's Tales and Hairspray.

Our dancers have performed at many city venues, various partner schools, and in assemblies.
