GCSE results see Charter rise up the table

Great Yarmouth Charter's first GCSE results have placed it near the top of the table for local schools.
Pupils at the academy achieved a strong set of results, with 58% getting Grade 4+ in English and Maths, and 30% qualifying for the higher Grade 5+ measure.
That compares with just 30% and 14% respectively for the same measures at the old Great Yarmouth High School.
Headmaster Barry Smith said: "These results are just the start of showing what Great Yarmouth kids are made of. We have more than doubled the pass rate at the tougher Grade 5+ English and Maths measure compared to the old high school, and nearly doubled the Grade 4 pass rate too.
"I am extremely proud of what our young people and teachers have achieved today, and will go on achieving at sixth form and beyond.
"As ever, we really encourage families to come and visit and see with their own eyes. Our results are only part of what we’re doing at Charter."
Across the borough pupils picked up their GCSE results on Thursday. Results at Grade 4+ English and Maths included: Caister Academy, 56%; Cliff Park Ormiston, 47%; Flegg High Ormiston, 49%; Lynn Grove Academy, 57%.
