New principal for Thetford

Published on 21/06/18

Thetford Academy will have a new principal from September.

Our current principal Mr Blakey has accepted a promotion to a new role at a local academy trust, following several years at Thetford as first vice principal and more recently principal.

From September, this important role will be held by Dan Carter. Mr Carter has worked at Inspiration Trust schools in both Cromer and Great Yarmouth.

He is originally from West Midlands but has lived in Norfolk for 20 years, and studied for both his degree and teaching qualifications at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

Mr Carter is married and has two daughters at primary school.

Chair of governors Lady Kay Fisher said: "Whilst this is good news for Mr Blakey and a career progression, we shall all miss him. We have all benefited from his excellent contribution to the success of our school and our Thetford community.

"I am sure you will join me in wishing both Mr Blakey every success in his future career and Mr Carter in becoming part of our Thetford team, and building on the good work in making Thetford Academy flourish."

Mr Carter will be partly-based at Thetford in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth handover, before formally taking up post in September.
