Get ready for a midsummer night’s treat

Thetford Academy is the backdrop for an enchanting midsummer performance of one of Shakespeare’s best-loved plays.
The school's drama students will perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the school grounds on Thursday, June 21.
The cast of 30 students from Year 7 to Year 10 will bring the Bard’s classic comedy of mischievous fairies and mixed-up lovers to life in an atmospheric woodland setting.
Thetford Academy’s head of performing arts Helen Thomas-Jones said: “Some of our actors have never performed in front of an audience before, while some performed at the Norwich Playhouse last year as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival.
“All of them have enjoyed the challenge of learning the whole play, and they’re really looking forward to performing outside in the woods.”
The performance starts at 7pm, and audience members are welcome to bring chairs, blankets, and a picnic.
Tickets are £2 from the school reception, with proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Society.
