Singer’s e-safety visit hits the right note

Published on 21/03/17

A singer-songwriter has visited Thetford Academy to promote e-safety and student wellbeing.

Tom Ryder spoke to students on Wednesday, March 15 and shared his own experiences of suffering from insomnia, anxiety, and depression in his school days.

He stressed the importance of staying safe online and speaking out about any issues students might be facing.

Tom played a set including his new single ‘Here We Go Again’, before taking questions and having selfies with students.

Craig Skipp, curriculum lead for SMSC (spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development) at the school, said: “Tom’s visit was very well received by the staff and students, who enjoyed talking about e-safety in a different manner to the norm.

“It was a great opportunity to reinforce our key messages about the importance of staying safe online.”
