Special guest raises the woof

Aspiring vets at Sir Isaac Newton have welcomed a very special guest – Trafford the black labrador.

Trafford was accompanied by his owner Christopher, a third-year student at the Royal Veterinary College in London, on a visit to the sixth form on Friday, January 6.

Christopher gave the sixth formers an insight into being a student vet, as well as hints and tips on applying for higher education and surviving university life.

And students were able to give Trafford a medical examination as well as lots of cuddles – taking his pulse, checking his teeth, and even sniffing his ears to check for potential infections.

Assistant principal Chris Jennings said: “Our science courses and veterinary society offer an excellent grounding for students who wish to study veterinary science at degree level.

“A big thank you to Trafford and Christopher for helping to inspire the next generation of vets!”
