Pupils at Norwich Primary Academy and their families enjoyed an end-of-term picnic in the sunshine this week, and raised over £300 for children’s charity Nelson’s Journey.
The annual picnic was held on Monday, July 18, with families invited to come and celebrate pupils’ hard work over the school year, and help a good cause at the same time.
This year’s event was a ‘Purple Picnic’ to raise money for Nelson’s Journey, which helps bereaved children in Norfolk and has given invaluable support to many of the school’s children in the past.
Stalls raised funds and awareness for the charity, with prizes generously donated by Sainsbury’s, WH Smith, and Kerrison Toys.
Sports coaching company Premier Sport provided archery and a penalty shoot-out to test picnic-goers’ sporting prowess. The finalists of NPA’s Got Talent put on a showstopping performance and there was even a visit from the charity’s mascot, Nelson the cat.
The picnic concluded with a prizegiving ceremony for the schoolchildren who had shown the greatest attainment, progress and effort in the school year.
Nelson’s Journey thanked the school on social media, tweeting: “Thank you so much @NorwichPrimary! It was a gorgeous day and Nelson really enjoyed his visit!”
