Creative half term trip for Y6 writers

Published on 25/10/18

Pupils from Norwich Primary took advantage of the late autumn sun with a creative trip to Blickling and Cromer this half term.

Eleven Year 6 children took part in a three-hour literacy and vocabulary workshop on Monday, before heading to north Norfolk for creative inspiration on Tuesday.

The trip saw them visit Blickling Hall and tour the stately home's impressive grounds, taking in the woods, the folly, the mausoleum, lake, formal gardens, and orangery.

They were then treated to a fish and chip lunch in Cromer from the well-known Mary Jane's restaurant, eaten on the pier.

The youngsters spent the rest of the afternoon at the town's RNLI lifeboat station, meeting crew members and learning about how the lifeboat operates - including the chance to try on some kit.

They also heard about the station's proud history, including legendary lifeboat man Henry Blogg.

The pupils will use the experiences to help with an extended writing task.
