Archer Anya on target at county competition

A Jane Austen College student has notched up another triumph in her successful archery career.

Anya Annison shot to victory at the Norfolk County Championships on February 3 against strong competition in the under-18 category.

She adds the trophy to the under-12s title which she won at the UK Indoor Championships in December.

Year 7 student Anya took up archery at the age of six, inspired by her older sister who was already on the UK team.

She won the UK under-12 Outdoor Championships in 2015 at the age of eight; the same year she became the youngest ever archer to achieve the scores to reach Junior Master Bowman status, a record which still stands.

Anya said: “I love archery and enjoy the satisfaction from getting good results after hard practice.

“I’m looking forward to the Junior National Championships this summer and hoping to work towards a place on the UK squad.”
