Published on 29/01/19

A Jane Austen College student has spoken out on the radio about issues affecting young women in today’s society.

Year 9 student Rose Davenport Randall appeared on Radio Norfolk’s youth talk show The Social on Wednesday, January 23 to tackle issues such as sex education, the taboo around periods, and what feminism means in the modern world.

She spoke alongside members of Girl Up Norwich, part of a worldwide movement of young people working to empower girls and promote equal rights.

Rose said: “There were lots of interesting people with great views and ideas. I felt empowered and proud to be able to speak on such vital issues.”

You can listen to the show on the BBC Sounds website.
