Landscape painter opens new horizons for young artists

Published on 24/01/18

Art students at Jane Austen gained a new perspective on painting during a workshop run by Norfolk artist Samuel Thomas, who's renowned for his brightly coloured landscapes.

The Year 7 students discussed Samuel's artwork in detail using their colour theory knowledge, and picked up some top tips on how to draw using perspective.

Art teacher Hannah Wilson said: "This was a great opportunity for students to speak to an artist and find out about his painting process.

"We found out that one of his paintings may take two weeks to produce - suddenly our one-hour art lesson doesn't seem very long!"
