Staff at The Hewett Academy, Norwich have been sharing their language skills with pupils from nearby primary schools.
Year 5 pupils from Edith Cavell Academy visited the school on Tuesday, January 10 to take part in fun-packed French and Spanish lessons.
“Thank you so much for inviting us,” said Year 5 teacher Laura Metcalf. “The children loved it, and learned a lot – so did I!”
The visit formed part of The Hewett Academy’s ongoing transition work with local schools, which gives primary pupils a chance to have a taste of secondary school life while taking part in exciting new activities.
Mrs Cheesman, head of modern foreign languages at The Hewett Academy, has been visiting Tuckswood Academy to give special lessons to its Year 5 pupils.
And pupils from Edith Cavell Academy returned on January 17 for a Harry Potter-themed dance class, which one pupil described as “Great fun – it was entertaining and dramatic!”
The Hewett Academy principal Tom Leverage said: “These lessons are a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience life at our school, and make the most of our talented teaching staff and extensive facilities.
“We’re proud of our strong connections with local primary schools, and look forward to continuing our work to give children a positive transition to secondary school.”
