Dramatic success for young playwrights

Young playwrights from The Hewett Academy have seen their work performed as part of the University of East Anglia’s Festival of Literature for Young people.
The Year 11 students worked with playwright Lisanne van Ingen in a series of workshops to develop their play, The Attic, about a man who is physically and mentally scarred by his war experiences, and the ghosts that haunt him.
They were invited to watch it being staged by UEA drama students at the university’s Drama Studio on Monday, July 10.
English teacher Hannah Field said: “Our students worked really hard to produce a high-quality script and learned a huge amount about the playwriting process.
“They were thrilled to see their work brought to life on the stage.”
The work was supported by a grant from the UEA Alumni Fund.
