A student at Cromer Academy has won an award for her services to the school and local community.

Ellen Hedge, who’s in Year 11 at the school, was presented with the Cromer Mayor’s Youth Award by mayor Tim Adams at the annual town meeting on Wednesday, March 15.

She was nominated by Dr Geoff Baker, principal at Cromer Academy, for her community spirit which has seen her organise the school’s Christmas shoe box appeal, help out at the library’s summer reading challenge, and raise more than £500 for charity in the town’s annual Boxing Day Dip.

She also sits on Cromer Academy’s school council and student leadership team, helping her fellow students have a say in the school’s running and development.

Dr Baker said: “Ellen has absolutely blown me away with her commitment to the school and the community, and I can think of few as deserving as her for such an award.

“She has made a huge contribution to Cromer Academy and to the broader Cromer community.

“Well done Ellen – you are an absolute superstar!”
