Pupils get streets ahead with road safety week

Pupils at Cobholm Primary Academy can walk and cycle to school with confidence thanks to a week focusing on road safety.

The school's Year 1 children learned how to stop, look and listen for cars, and cross the road carefully with road safety officer Nicky Johnson.

They set out with Nicky to practise their pedestrian skills in the streets close to the school.

The Reception children also had a classroom talk on road safety and the dangers of traffic.

Lessons for the older year groups focused on cycling, with Year 5 and 6 pupils gearing up for a four-week bicycle safety course.

Principal Louise Scott said: “Our children have had fun while learning essential skills that will help them walk to and from school without coming to harm.”
