Schoolchildren’s hay day at family farm

Published on 11/05/18

Pupils from Cobholm Primary Academy made furry and feathered farmyard friends during a visit to a family-run farm.

The Reception children met pigs, goats, chickens, and the farm cat at Hundred River Farm, near Beccles in Suffolk on Thursday, May 10.

After cuddling and feeding the guinea pigs and chickens, the children were given a tour of the working farm, including a trip to the milking parlour to find out how cows are milked.

They also met the farm’s smaller residents on a minibeast hunt, learned how bees make honey, and saw how farmland is being planted to encourage wildlife such as birds and butterflies.

Teacher Mrs Sargeant said: “The children had a fantastic day exploring this wonderful farm and have been enthusiastically sharing everything they learned.”
