Young footballers at a Great Yarmouth primary school have scored a fantastic day on the pitch at the training centre used by their footballing heroes at Norwich City.
The Year 1 pupils from Cobholm Primary Academy netted a day of expert training at the Colney Training Centre in Norwich to develop their footballing techniques, with an emphasis on respect and good sportsmanship, on Monday, March 19.
After impressing coaches in a series of four-a-side matches, Tommy Thompson was picked out as a potential player for the Norwich Academy Under 7s team, and has been invited to return for further training.
The class received certificates at the end of the day for their hard work and sportsmanship.
Teacher Jessica Smith said: “The day was a huge success for all of the pupils that took part and I couldn’t be more proud of the boys from Cobholm Primary Academy.
“Though the day was challenging and tiring, our pupils showed great determination and tenacity.
“It was extremely gratifying to see the pupils helping up teammates who had fallen and shaking hands with opponents after matches; a real sign of respect between players.”
