Tower of tins to fight food poverty
Published on 15/05/17
Kind-hearted pupils at Great Yarmouth Primary Academy are helping people in need by building a tower of tins for local food banks.
Families who can spare a tin or packet of non-perishable food are invited to bring donations to the school, which will be collected every ‘Tin Tuesday’.
The food will be distributed by the Anchorage Trust – a charity in Great Yarmouth that supports young people at risk of homelessness – and the Salvation Army.
Principal Stephen Astley said: “By donating to food banks in Great Yarmouth we can support local causes and make a difference in our community.
“Thank you to our families for their help.”
