Children fired up by station visit

Published on 27/04/17

Nursery children from Great Yarmouth Primary Academy became firefighters for the day during a visit to their local fire station.

The children met the crew, explored the appliances, and even got to have a go with a fire hose at Great Yarmouth Fire Station on Wednesday, April 26.

They learned about the uniforms and oxygen tanks the firefighters have to wear, and watched a video about the importance of not playing with matches.

Nursery teacher Sue Chater said: “We had a brilliant time at the fire station! The children learned loads about fire safety and were especially excited when they got to squirt water from the fire hose.

“A big thank you to all the crew who gave us their time.”
