Leading education expert Christine Counsell has been appointed as the Inspiration Trust's first director of education.
Christine will guide and support principals at the Trust's 13 schools across East Anglia, with a brief to ensure that all students study curricula that will give them the rich knowledge that they need to learn well and live rewarding lives.
She will also lead the Trust's teacher training and professional development programmes and support principals in ensuring that all students receive excellent teaching.
Christine brings a wealth of experience and expertise, including 10 years of classroom teaching and leadership, two decades of teacher training and development at the University of Cambridge, and extensive national and international work.
She has advised on curriculum issues and worked with teachers, scholars and policy-makers in America, Australia, Singapore, Europe and the Middle East.
She has published widely, including academic papers, practical guides and classroom resources.
Announcing the appointment, Inspiration Trust chief executive Dame Rachel de Souza said: "This landmark appointment is crucial to the next phase of the Inspiration Trust. We have already shown the difference we can make in schools - for example, taking Hethersett Academy from special measures to an Outstanding Ofsted rating in less than three years.
"Christine's appointment is about cementing that achievement and making sure we also develop the next generation of school leaders, both for the Trust and the wider education sector.
"Through visits by people like leading US academic E D Hirsch we have shown that Norfolk and Suffolk can be at the forefront of educational progress, and Christine will be in the driving seat of that."
Christine Counsell said: "I am delighted to be joining the remarkable Inspiration Trust.
"I can’t wait to work with the teachers and leaders, with Dame Rachel and with all the Trust staff, in continuing to define excellence in schooling and in securing the very best education for the children of East Anglia."
- Christine will take up post on Monday, October 3, 2016.
