Honorary doctorate for director of education

The Inspiration Trust's director of education has been awarded an honorary degree by Anglia Ruskin University.

Christine Counsell was made an honorary doctor of education today, at a ceremony at Cambridge Corn Exchange.

The award is in recognition of Christine's exceptional career in developing education, which has included advising governments acround the world on curriculum issues, and 20 years at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Education.

Christine joined the Inspiration Trust as director of education in October 2016, and has led the creation of an expert team of subject specialist leaders, a popular series of professonal development courses, and most recently the announcement of the Trust's own teacher training programme.

Trust chief executive Dame Rachel de Souza said: "Christine is an exceptional scholar and thinker, and the foremost expert in history teaching in the UK today.

"We are very glad to have her as part of the Inspiration Trust team and this award from Anglia Ruskin is richly deserved."
